MFA to use money from sale of New York property belonging to former Yugoslavia
Skopje, 8 October 2022 (MIA) - North Macedonia got four million dollars from the sale of the joint property of former Yugoslavia in New York and the money will be awarded to the Foreign Ministry to buy a property for our mission in New York, said Foreign Minister Bujar Osmani on Saturday. In the meantime, he said, the government approved the Ministry's proposal on buying a property for our mission in New York and to use the rest of the money to buy other properties in the region. According to Osmani, MFA under the succession agreement has gotten a residency in Paris, which now houses North Macedonia's embassy, apartments in Rome, Trieste, parts of a property in New Delhi and Brazil, a property in Canberra and Harare. "They should all be included in our diplomatic network," he said. Asked about the course of the succession process, Osmani said there are several more assets that belonged to former Yugoslavia that now should be inherited by the five successor states, including properties in Romania and Albania. He told reporters that a property in New Delhi will be renovated, as well as those in Brasilia and Athens.
