Skopje, 6 June 2022 (MIA) – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) has rejected the request by the Russian Embassy for a special approval to use the country’s airspace for a flight to Belgrade because the Government has already passed a general decision to close North Macedonia’s airspace for airlines owned by the Russian Federation, the Ministry said on Monday.
The press release comes after North Macedonia, Bulgaria and Montenegro all refused to grant the use of their airspace for the aircraft that was set to carry Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov for a visit to Belgrade, which has now been cancelled.
