Meyer: “Immediate Response 23” exercise a great reflection of North Macedonia’s commitment

Skopje, 18 May 2023 (MIA) – The Army of the Republic of North Macedonia is proving that they are ready and well-prepared to integrate with a multinational brigade and US forces in Europe, the US Embassy Charge d'Affaires, Eric Meyer, said on Thursday.

Following today’s briefing on forthcoming “Immediate Response 23” exercise, which is part of the largest multinational exercise “Defender Europe 23,” Meyer said that “Immediate Response 23” exercise is a great reflection of North Macedonia’s commitment to these activities.

“Exercises like these help build readiness and enhance operational capabilities among NATO allies,” Meyer said.

According to Meyer, North Macedonia’s forces are an integral part of demonstrating Alliance readiness and interoperability alongside partners and other NATO allies.

“Immediate Response 23” is to take place in North Macedonia, Albania, Bulgaria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Croatia, Slovenia and Kosovo.

Around 1,850 members of four NATO armies - the United States, North Macedonia, Albania and Montenegro, as well as a partner country, Kosovo will participate in the part of the exercise, which will be conducted from May 22 to June 2 at the Krivolak army training area in North Macedonia.

Additionally, the Army of North Macedonia with about 130 members will participate in the realization of this exercise in Germany, Slovenia, Croatia, Kosovo and Albania.

The overall objective of the exercise is for NATO allies and partner nations to improve military capabilities and interoperability.
