Skopje, 6 April 2023 (MIA) – Ali Ahmeti was the one that begged me to form a faction within DUI in the past. Now that there is a need for a faction in the party, I don’t know why he said he won’t allow it. Since they are promoting a European front on a daily basis, they should not oppose factions within DUI, because factions are a European value of the European parties, said DUI MP Izet Mexhiti on Thursday, in response to DUI leader Ali Ahmeti’s statement disputing the faction.

On whether the faction could split from DUI and participate separately at the next elections, Mexhiti was decisive that their goal is to win the battle within DUI.

Asked if they fear being excluded from DUI because of their non-compliance with the party’s statute, Saraj Mayor Blerim Bexheti said that the serious doubts that the party’s bodies have been usurped by DUI’s ministers are the source of the issue.

“We don’t believe we are breaking the statute, on the contrary, this is done by the usurpers of the party’s bodies. From a legal standpoint, I think some other people should be held responsible for not complying with the party’s statute, not us,” said Bexheti.
