Skopje, 10 June 2024 (MIA) - Izet Mexhiti of the Democratic Movement, which is part of the Worth It coalition, says the new government will be formed after the Kurban Bayram (Eid al-Adha) holiday, namely on June 19 or 20.

Mexhiti told Alsat TV he will be the First Deputy PM and Minister of Environment, whereas Gostivar Mayor Arben Taravari the new Minister of Health.

"The Worth It coalition will have two Deputy PMs. Arben Fetai of Taravari's Alliance for Albanians is a strong candidate to be the Deputy PM for good governance. Alternativa is to decide on the Deputy PM's post for Euro-integration, whereas Besa is set to assume the ministries of economy and social policy," says Mexhiti.

PM-designate Hristijan Mickoski received the mandate for the government formation last Thursday. The new government will have 20 ministries, four more than the incumbent authorities. VMRO-DPMNE has held talks with Worth It and ZNAM as its coalition partners.

The Parliament has passed amendments to the Law on State Administration, which stipulate the Ministry of Economy to be enlarged with the Labor segment, whereas energy, mining and minerals will be under the jurisdiction of the new Ministry of Energy. The current Ministry of Labor and Social Policy will be transformed into a Ministry of Social Policy, Demography and Youth, whereas the tourism sector will be merged into the new Ministry of Culture and Tourism. In addition, a new Ministry of Digital Transformation will be set up, succeeding the Ministry of Information Society and Administration, along with a new Ministry of Sport.
