Medical grade air compressing station in use for Skopje clinics performing surgeries

Medical grade air compressing station in use for Skopje clinics performing surgeries

Skopje, 10 February 2025 (MIA) - The medical grade air compressing station at Skopje’s Mother Teresa complex of clinics was put into use officially on Monday.

Health Minister Arben Taravari expressed satisfaction that years-long issues, including the one with the medical air compressor, are being solved in addition to investing in renovations and medical equipment.

Fortunately, he said, the old compressing station is also in order, which will help avoid problems like last year’s.

“The station is already in use after being tested in line with all standards. There are three air compressors, which as an installation is completely new. Fortunately, we still have the old one to serve as backup,” Taravari told reporters.

The new medical air compressor will be used for the operating rooms at four hospitals within the Skopje complex.

In May 2024, operating rooms at the clinical complex were closed after unpleasant odour started spreading. Built more than 30 years ago, the medical air compressing system should have been changed three years ago. With operating rooms being closed at the complex of clinics, it was considered a heavy blow on the clinical center, deemed a backbone of the country’s healthcare system.
