Marichikj: We urge EU to make decision on holding first IGC with North Macedonia, Albania
Skopje, 3 December 2021 (MIA) – We urge the European Union to make a decision on holding the first intergovernmental conference with North Macedonia and Albania, so we can start talks, improve results and enhance the efficiency of reforms as soon as possible, Justice Minister Bojan Marichikj said Friday ahead of the EU-Western Balkans Ministerial Forum on Justice and Home Affairs in Brdo. According to Marichikj, the format of the event, which brings together justice and home affairs ministers from Western Balkan countries and European Union representatives, is the best way to discuss important topics, exchange experiences and make plans for swift implementation of reforms. “We’re covering three important topics: rule of law, judicial education and digitalization of the judiciary. These are top priorities for North Macedonia’s government and we’re happy we can contribute to the discussion and learn from other colleagues how to implement reforms better and quicker. We implement reforms for our own benefit, but EU accession negotiations will provide a framework for speeding up and enhancing the efficiency of the process,” Marichikj said.
