Skopje, 5 October 2023 (MIA) - Austrian Ambassador Martin Pammer presented Thursday Deputy PM for European Affairs Bojan Marichikj with the document promoting the gradual integration of the Western Balkans, which is set to bring fresh dynamics in the negotiating process.
"This makes our goal of EU membership by 2030 even more attainable," said Deputy PM Marichikj and voiced expectation that EU and its member-statesd would support and stimulate the accelerated Euro-integration process of the region.
Marichikj said the country now has to deliver results and complete its tasks, since the opportunity has been given and "the decision to lead the country into the EU is up to us", the Secretariat for European Affairs said in a press release.
According to the document, the accelerated integration will be realized through institutional instruments, financial support and gradual political and administrative integration, which include regular informal participation of regional countries at meetings of the EU Council and other working groups that discuss topics of common interest, as well as early integration in certain areas of the Single Market.
Reforms are set to gain dynamics through financial assistance, increased support in strengthening the IPA absorption capacities, and consistent approach in the EU's funding for candidate-states and aspirant countries, including a closer cooperation with international financial institutions, reads the press release.
