March consumer prices up by 4.0%: statistics

Skopje, 8 April 2024 (MIA) - Consumer prices rose by 4 percent in March 2024, compared to March 2023, while retail prices increased by 3.8 percent, said the State Statistical Office in a press release.
Inflation measured through the Consumer Price Index in March 2024, compared to February 2024 is 0.9 percent, said the Office.
The increase of inflation in March 2024, compared to February 2024, is the result of the increase in the consumer prices in the following groups: Transport by 3.1 percent, Food and non-alcoholic beverages by 1.3 percent, Miscellaneous goods and services by 0.6 percent, Recreation and culture, Restaurants and hotels by 0.5 percent, Clothing and footwear by 0.2 percent, Alcoholic beverages, tobacco and narcotics, Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels, Health and Communications by 0.1 percent.
In March 2024, compared to February 2024, a decrease in Consumer Price Index was registered in the group Furnishings, household equipment and routine household by 0.1 percent.
The Consumer Price Index in the group Education remains at the same level as in the previous month.
Compared to February 2024, retail prices in March 2024 rose by 1 percent.
