Macedonia's vision is modern and innovative energy model, Bozhinovska tells MEF

Skopje, 17 June 2025 (MIA) – The vision of Macedonia involves the creation of a modern and innovative energy model paving the way for a fair transition to become the driving force of economic growth in the interest of the citizens and the country, Minister of Energy, Mining and Mineral Resources Sanja Bozhinovska told a panel on the Western Balkans “Investments in Times of Upheaval and Rapid Market Developments: Where does the Western Balkans region stand?”.

Speaking at the event held as part of the 2025 Macedonian Energy Forum (MEF), Bozhinovska underlined the importance of the region making joint efforts.

“Together with the countries in the region, we are turning obstacles into opportunities to put the Western Balkans into the world energy map,” she said adding that a sustainable energy system can be established only through joint efforts.

As part of the event, Minister Bozhinovska met with Francesco La Camera, Director General of the International Renewable Energy Agency, the Energy Ministry said in a press release Tuesday.

“She confirmed Macedonia’s commitment to fair and inclusive energy transition saying it is of key importance to create conditions for a safe energy and climate transformation,” said the press release.

MEF, which this year is held in Skopje under the motto “Support for clean energy revolution in the Western Balkans”, brings together top experts and key stakeholders from around the world to discuss challenges and opportunities in the energy sector with an accent on regional cooperation and accelerating green transition.
