Macedonian tourism offer at Belgrade fair

Macedonian tourism offer at Belgrade fair

Skopje, 24 February 2023 (MIA) – A record number of exhibitors are promoting tourism offers at the Macedonian stand within the Belgrade Tourism Fair. Around 350 exhibitors from 33 countries, including North Macedonia, are taking part at the 44th International Tourism Fair.

Agency for Promotion and Support of Tourism (APPT) Director Ljupcho Janevski held a meeting with Bulgarian Minister of Tourism, Ilin Dimitrov, discussing the need for increased promotion of both destinations and the possibility to increase cooperation in tourism and returning tourists to both countries, APPT said in a press release.

Janevski said that tourism diplomacy is necessary to rebuild bridges between the neighboring countries so that tourists return, which is only possible through respect and understanding. He added that influencers, bloggers and other media will visit and promote both destinations.

Switzerland is supporting the development and promotion of active tourism with tourist videos adapted to VR Box glasses through the Increasing Market Employability (IME) Programme, as well as by representing small family wineries from this country and connecting to tour operators. Today’s presentation is an excellent ability to present the eno-gastro concept as a new tourism offer and a possibility for an unforgettable journey. Gevgelija, Dojran, Resen, Krushevo and Ohrid will show off their natural beauty during the fair days of February 23-26, alongside the Hotel Association of Macedonia (HOTAM), Globus Travel and Mizo Hotel. A delegation of over 50 Macedonian tour operators and hoteliers will visit the fair, as well as representatives from the University of Tourism and Management which will participate in B2B meetings, promoting new packages and attractions. Religious tourism is of great interest to the visitors, the media and tour operators, reads the press release.

It adds that the Serbian market is one of the fastest growing markets for Macedonian tourism.

In 2022, over 63,000 tourists completed over 130,000 overnight stays, imposing a need for integrated marketing and strengthened promotion in 2023. The Belgrade-Ohrid flight, which will be launched in June, is a huge challenge and an opportunity to continue the positive increase of Serbian tourists. The Agency expects 2023 to be the best year for the tourism sector yet, with over 3.2 million overnight stays and approximately USD 600 million from this industry into the Macedonian economy. dk/ik/
