Macedonian pavilion receives Theme Development Award at Osaka Expo 2025

Skopje, 13 October 2025 (MIA) - The Macedonian pavilion has been honoured with the Theme Development Award at the Osaka World Expo 2025, presented by the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE). The award was announced and presented at the BIE Day ceremony on October 12, 2025.

"This recognition is a great achievement for Macedonia, as it values the creativity, conceptual clarity and the authentic way in which the national pavilion brings to life the central theme of Expo 2025 - “Designing Future Society for Our Lives”. The Macedonian pavilion, through an innovative approach, cultural narrative weaving and contemporary visual presentation, managed to tell the story of the country as a bridge between tradition and the future, with a focus on connecting people, architecture and humanity. The success is the result of coordinated efforts of the Government's General Secretariat, led by Kristina Rizovska Kutretinski - Commissioner General for the Republic of North Macedonia for Expo Osaka 2025, in cooperation with a professional and dedicated team of representatives, designers and institutions," said the Macedonian team that represented the country in Osaka.

The key role in developing the pavilion's concept and visual identity, reads the press release, was played by the marketing agency Box Digital, which designed and implemented the creative concept and communication strategy that positioned the country as a modern, connecting and visionary participant in Expo 2025.

"This award is a recognition of the vision and teamwork that presented Macedonia on the global stage. We managed to tell our story in a way that is recognizable, modern and deeply connected to the themes of EXPO 2025," Kristina Rizovska said in a written statement.

Osaka Expo 2025 is held under the auspices of the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) and features over 160 participating countries and international organizations. The awards are presented by an international jury, which evaluates the pavilions according to four categories: architecture, exhibition design, sustainability and theme development - the most prestigious category that highlights the pavilions' ability to present the Expo's central theme in an inspiring and innovative way.
