Skopje, 2 January 2026 (MIA) – One Macedonian national is missing following the fire that broke out on New Year’s Eve at a bar in Crans-Montana, Switzerland.
“According to the latest information we have received from the relevant institutions, there is one person with Macedonian citizenship. We remain in contact with the Swiss authorities and police, and we expect to receive more details, after which we will inform the public,” government spokesperson Marija Miteva told journalists at a press conference Friday.
Miteva said the government is in contact with official representatives of Switzerland and has offered assistance.
“We remain at disposal and expect them to request assistance if it is necessary,” Miteva said, extending condolences on behalf of the government over the tragedy in Crans-Montana.
Around 40 people are dead and at least 115 seriously injured by the blaze that broke out in a bar in the Swiss ski resort of Crans-Montana.
