Skopje, 18 November 2023 (MIA) – Two Macedonian nationals - a married couple that was successfully evacuated from the Gaza Strip published a letter Saturday expressing gratitude to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the International Organization for Migration, as well as all other state institutions and individuals who were directly involved in their evacuation.

“We, the married couple that was stuck in Gaza for 38 days, would like to publicly and officially voice our deep respect, recognition and gratitude to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, headed by Mr. Bujar Osmani; to the entire diplomacy; to the International Organization for Migration; to all state institutions, agencies and individuals that were directly involved in our evacuation from Gaza, in the detailed organized care and [our] successful return home,” said the El-Kedra couple in the letter.

They also extended their gratitude to Elma Altorok, Charge d’Affaires at the Embassy in Cairo, for her “engagement, professionalism, persistence and support,” as well as to the Charge d’Affaires of North Macedonia at the Embassy in Tel Aviv, Maciej Kaczorowski, for his “exceptional role in obtaining a departure permit from the Israeli authorities”.

The married couple was evacuated through the Rafah Border Crossing. Foreign Minister Bujar Osmani announced their evacuation in a Facebook post on Tuesday. They were the last remaining Macedonian nationals stuck in Gaza who had expressed a desire to leave the Strip.
