Skopje, 25 July 2023 (MIA) – Public Revenue Office (PRO) director Sanja Lukarevska said Tuesday that the solidarity tax should cover about 200 companies, and the estimates are based on PRO analyses according to the tax balances that companies have submitted to PRO.
"We are talking about comparative data, 2022, 2021, etc. Around EUR 76-77 million would flow into the budget through this one-off solidarity contribution," Lukarevska said in response to a reporter's question at Tuesday's press conference on a deal reached to increase the wages of PRO employees.
As regards the activities of the companies that will be covered by the solidarity tax, and whether they are related only to energy and those that have made higher profits during the energy crisis, she said it is for a longer period.
"Regardless, here we have a comparison period that is slightly longer than the energy crisis within the data," said Lukarevska.
The Parliamentary Committee on European Affairs began on Monday a debate on amendments to the draft law on solidarity tax, which were EU-flagged by the Government along with the draft amendments to the laws on VAT and profit tax.
The draft bill on the solidarity tax, proposed by the Ministry of Finance, provides for introducing a solidarity tax for 2023 as a one-off, extraordinary and temporary public contribution, whereby those liable for paying this type of tax are those liable for profit tax in accordance with the law on profit tax, having realized a total profit of more than Mden 615,000,000 in 2022.
