Lukarevska says VAT refund measure should be updated, supports increasing return
Skopje, 22 July 2021 (MIA) - Public Revenue Office (PRO) head and SDSM vice-president Sanja Lukarevska told Kanal 5 TV on Thursday evening that the MyVAT measure should continue to be updated, stressing support for increasing the return amount.
According the Lukarevska, the measure has been successful in reducing the grey economy.
“We’ve received many anonymous tips that businesses don’t issue fiscal receipts. Others have publicly shared this information via social media. The measure has been a great success in reducing the grey economy,” she said.
Moreover, the PRO head added that she’s a huge supporter of increasing the refund amount limit from Mden 1,800 to Mden 2,400.
“I think the measure will continue to be updated. In regard to lifting the limit from Mden 1,800 to 2,400, the pandemic has spoiled expectations. However, we’ll deliver on all pre-election promises. I’m the biggest supporter of raising the limit,” she added.
In regard to companies that have received government assistance during the pandemic, but failed to pay workers their salaries, Lukarevska stressed that controls are still underway, adding that relevant documents have been delivered to the Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office.
“Controls over implementation of the law on financial assistance for businesses during the coronacrisis have been completed. However, tax controls are still underway at some companies and we’ve registered certain irregularities. All relevant documents have been delivered to the Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office,” Lukarevska underlined.
Guilty parties, she added, will have to bear the consequences of breaking the law.
