Lots of evidence of crime among former high-ranking politicians, says Toshkovski

Skopje, 14 September 2024 (MIA) - Anyone who has committed crimes will face justice. There’s lots of evidence of crime among former high-ranking politicians that we are working on, and the public will learn about all of them when they enter a stage of processing, Interior Minister Panche Toshkovski said in an interview for "Triling" on Friday.

Asked if the fight against high crime and corruption has begun, Toshkovski said the fight was intensively launched back when the Interior Ministry received new leadership in the caretaker Government.

“We have a supreme judge who is no longer a supreme judge, and he is sentenced to three years in prison, a member of the Council of Public Prosecutors who is no longer a member of the Council and he admitted guilt for the crime he committed. I think this is a clear sign that the fight against crime and corruption has begun,” Toshkovski said.

The Interior Minister said the fight against this type of crime cannot have results overnight, but that the new Government’s commitment is clear.

“The number of human resources at the appropriate professional level in the institutions that need to fight this type of crime is very low, the adequate training was lacking, the technical means were badly managed. But the commitment of this leadership and this government in the fight against corruption and high crime is clear, we want to fight, and we will fight,” Minister Toshkovski stressed.
