Lloga: Palevski extradition procedure ongoing, everything is coming together

Skopje, 19 December 2023 (MIA) - The extradition procedure is ongoing and everythig is coming together, as we act and respond to all requests immediately, Justice Minister Krenar Lloga said commenting on the procedure for extradition of Ljupcho Palevski, the prime suspect in the murder of Vanja Gjorchevska and Panche Zhezhovski, who is placed under extradition detention in Turkey.

In a statement to the media after Tuesday's event on awarding birth certificates to previously undocumented persons, Minister Lloga said there is no additional information on the extradition procedure apart from what has already been shared so far.

"There is no additional information apart from what has already been shared by us so far. When additional information is available, we will keep you updated," Lloga said.

The Ministry of Justice previously told reporters that the extradition request was compiled in one day and the suspect was immediately placed under extradition detention. The Justice Ministry noted that the extradition procedure in such cases takes several months, with the only exception of cases of abbreviated procedure when an individual accepts to be extradited.

Gjorchevska, 14, was found dead near Skopje on December 3 after she was reported missing on November 27, and Zhezhovski, 74, was found dead near Veles on December 3 after he was reported missing on November 24.

Palevski, founder of political party Desna, has been charged with abduction and murder, party members Velibor Manev, Vlatko Keshishov and Bore Videvski have been charged with abduction and accessory to murder, whereas Vanja's father Aleksandar Gjorchevski, who is suspected of sharing information with them over his daughter's morning routine, has been charged with accessory to abduction.
