Lloga in Washington: Bilateral cooperation with U.S. to continue and deepen

Skopje, 13 October 2023 (MIA) – Minister of Justice Krenar Lloga held meetings in Washington with high representatives of the United States Department of Justice (DOJ), including the Deputy Assistant Attorney General and Counselor for International Affairs, Bruce C. Swartz. At the meetings, Lloga voiced gratitude for the U.S. contribution and investment in North Macedonia’s judiciary, and the strategic partnership between the two countries, said the Ministry of Justice in a press release Friday.

“We spoke about reforms in the judiciary, the 2023-2027 strategy, the constitutional amendments and their importance for the country’s Euro-Atlantic future, the new Criminal Code, the deadline for the election of a state prosecutor, the Automated Case Management Information System (ACMIS). I informed the hosts about the system and the conditions in the country’s prisons, as well as the draft Law on Amnesty. The bilateral cooperation with the United States must continue and must be deepened, because this cooperation has been and continues to be of vital importance for the future of the citizens,” said the Minister.

The press release voiced gratitude “for the reception and the very important meetings with US friends: Bruce C. Swartz (Deputy Assistant Attorney General and DOJ Counselor for International Affairs), Goran Krnaich (Senior Counsel Office of the Assistant Attorney General Criminal Division), Pranga Soni (Regional Director DOJ - EUROPE), Michael J. Lyness (Trial Attorney - Office of International Affairs DOJ), Michael E. Eaton (Trial Attorney - Office of International Affairs - Criminal Division).”
