Skopje, 28 April 2023 (MIA) — Minister of Justice Krenar Lloga met Friday with UNICEF Representative Patrizia DiGiovanni and UNICEF Child Protection Officer Olimpija Markovska to discuss children's rights and their protection as well as the national strategy for prevention of juvenile delinquency.

According to the Ministry of Justice in a press release, Minister Lloga said justice for children was one of the highest priorities for North Macedonia, which had ratified the Convention on the Rights of the Child and was making efforts to realize their rights in a comprehensive, systemic way.

"Every child in the system deserves to be adequately protected," the release says.

"Every child deserves to have their needs prioritized by institutions and to be protected from any form of discrimination and marginalization."

The release notes that the Ministry of Justice is working on a new Law on Justice for Children, which would better protect the interests of the child, and on strengthening the mechanisms for the prevention of juvenile delinquency.

"Cooperation with UNCEF will continue," the release adds. mr/
