Lipkovo council candidate injured in shooting, officials say no indications incident was politically motivated

Kumanovo, 7 October 2025 (MIA) - One person, a candidate for a seat in the municipal council of Lipkovo, was injured in a drive-by shooting that took place behind the building of the Municipality of Kumanovo around 2 p.m. on Tuesday. Prosecutors are investigating the incident, with the Public Prosecutor’s Office saying initial indications do not point to political motives behind the incident.
The Prosecutor’s Office said the injured Z.Sh. (43) is the incumbent president of the Lipkovo municipal council and a candidate for council member representing the DUI-led National Alliance for Integration at the upcoming local elections.
"Traces and physical evidence are being collected and will be subject to forensic analysis. One person was injured in the shooting, and the attacker is at large. Initial indications do not suggest political motives behind the armed incident, but all circumstances are being examined," the Prosecutor's Office said.

The head of the General Hospital in Kumanovo, Sasho Stoshevski told MIA the injured Z.Sh. is not in a life-threatening condition and has been transferred to Skopje for treatment.
“The individual with the initials Z.Sh. was brought to us with four gunshot wounds located in the left forearm and right knee. We conducted all necessary examinations. The person is not in a life-threatening condition and was immediately transferred to the Traumatology Clinic in Skopje," Stoshevski said.
