Let's use unique EU enlargement opportunity, Marichikj tells COELA delegates

Brussels, 7 December 2023 (MIA) - Successful completion of the screening process, future plans regarding the submission of the required documents for realization of reforms, the country's strategy on the Growth Plan for the Western Balkans that is currently drafted, as well as challenges on the EU path were in the focus of a briefing meeting of Deputy PM for European Affairs Bojan Marichikj with delegates of the EU Council's Working Party on Enlargement and Countries Negotiating Accession to the EU (COELA) in Brussels on Thursday.

Deputy PM Marichikj thanked the Council members and all stakeholders in the screening process for EU's support, and the way in which delegates can engage and have a positive impact in successful realization of North Macedonia's processes on the EU path, the Secretariat for European Affairs said in a press release.

He said that a very important stage has been completed through the 15-month-long screening process and also referred to the next steps related to the drafting of roadmaps for reforms and the action plan, as well as adoption of the constitutional amendments and focus on the Growth Plan strategy.

"The Growth Plan is an excellent instrument for implementation of the required reforms on the EU path," concluded Marichikj.

COELA delegates reaffirmed the strong support of their respective countries for continuation of North Macedonia's accession negotiations and discussed the next steps upon completion of the screening process.

In addition, the Deputy PM highlighted the importance of reforms' implementation and using of the unique opportunity for EU enlargement with the Western Balkans, Moldova and Ukraine, reads the press release.
