Skopje, 1 April 2025 (MIA) - Lawmakers unanimously adopted Tuesday the motion for amendments to the Law on Misdemeanors against Public Order that ban the indoor use of pyrotechnics, following the Kochani nightclub tragedy that claimed 59 lives.

The expedited motion, submitted by the VMRO-DPMNE MPs, also doubles the fines for violators if the ban is not followed, as well as detention if the violation is repeated.

In addition, the amendments provide for increased authorities by police when proceeding against public order violations.

A new law on explosive matters for civilian use is currently drafted and these amendments will serve as a bypass until the new piece of legislation goes into effect.
