Lawmakers approve amendments to law on health care, abolishing economic directors

Skopje, 13 August 2024 (MIA) - Lawmakers approved the changes to the Law on Health Care with 71 votes in favor and one against, which abolishes the position of economic directors.

During Tuesday’s session, lawmakers also adopted law to designate the Matka Canyon and Lake Ohrid as natural monuments and law designating the Studenchishte Marsh as Nature Park.

VMRO-DPMNE MP Petar Markov pointed out that the amendments to the Law on Health Care reduces unproductive costs and establishes principles that transcend narrow party interests, which signifies an improvement to the ruined healthcare system in the country.

He mentioned that institutions will be managed by one director, who will be responsible for the institution's operations and for ensuring that everything is done in accordance with the law.

During the session, MP Ilire Dauti from the Alliance for the Albanians discussed the Law, highlighting that the aim is to address the areas with the highest Albanian population, noting that the number of ministers in the new VMRO-DPMNE government has risen from 16 to 23.

MP Amar Mecinovikj from the Left party highlighted in his remarks that they are giving their full support for the adoption of this law.

During today’s session, the lawmakers passed the law on supplementing the Law on Financing Local Self-Government Units and also approved the proposal for the law on amendments and supplements to the Law on Urban Planning, under an expedited procedure.

Moreover, proposed amendments and additions to laws related to transportation, hunting, sports, were passed through expedited procedures.
