Skopje, 1 February 2024 (MIA) – Health Minister Fatmir Mexhiti met Thursday with the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Svetozar Antovikj, and Professor Vesna Velikj Stefanovska, the Head of the Institute of Epidemiology regarding the establishment of a national electronic platform for publishing scientific epidemiological studies on the status of malignant diseases in the country.

“For the first time we are establishing a national electronic platform for publishing scientific epidemiological studies on prostate, uterine, colorectal, breast and pancreatic cancers. In formulating the working methodology, the experiences of both European Union member countries and the United States were taken into account. They display the average annual percentage change for each of the five malignant diseases over the period from 2014 to 2022, categorized by gender, age, and municipalities,” Mexhiti said.

The Ministry of Health informed that all research will be made available on an electronic platform, open to all healthcare professionals, as well as students, master's, and doctoral candidates from the faculties of medicine, dentistry, and pharmacy. Associations of patients with malignant diseases, along with all other interested individuals and institutions, will have access to the platform.

"The realization of this initiative is of national interest and will enable connectivity with all relevant global databases," as stated by the Ministry of Health.
