Probishtip, 18 September 2023 (MIA) — Minister of Labor and Social Policy Jovanka Trenchevska visited in Probishtip on Monday local providers of home care services as part of a project implemented with the support of the World Bank.

She was joined by Probishtip Mayor Dragan Anastasov and the secretaries of the national Red Cross branches in Probishtip and Kratovo. Some 50 people over 65 receive help with daily living activities in these two towns through the project.

"I am especially glad that these services are available in rural areas and in the most remote places because we are committed to providing care and improving the quality of life of all citizens," Minister Trenchevska said.

She said 1,200 people in the country were using home care services.

She added that the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy remained focused on the demands of pensioners for higher pensions and a Minimum Pension Law was already in the works.

Probishtip Mayor Dragan Anastasov said that through the project, about 20 citizens who had built Probishtip were receiving home care.

Probishtip Red Cross secretary Mitko Gjorgievski said in Probishtip and Kratovo there were 50 users of the services and a total of 14 trained carers.

One of them is Katerina Mitevska, who provides assistance to five people over 65 years old.

"We have the energy. We give them what seems like a little to us, but it means the world to them," she said.

"It is usually grocery shopping, tidying up, making food, getting their medications ready, massages, getting them to move around the house, mobility. They need conversation, some company," Mitevska said, encouraging unemployed people to register and become caregivers. mr/
