Skopje, 7 June 2023 (MIA) - The Customs Administration, supported by the government, committedly approached the process of our country’s EU integration by undertaking a set of activities for the protection of society, and for facilitating trade and improving services to economic operators, which will lay the foundations for functioning in the single market, Customs Administration director Slavica Kutirov said Wednesday in Brussels addressing the bilateral meeting on country’s preparedness in the sphere of Customs Union.

“In past years, we have been committed to the transposition of the relevant EU legislation in the field of Customs into our national legislation, as well as to the digitalization of customs operations. According to the Development Strategy and the Action Plan 2022-2024, the Customs Administration will continue with the preparation for interconnection and interoperability with the EU systems and implementation of systems harmonized with the EU systems, in order to establish them prior to the EU accession,” Kutirov said.

Kutirov underscored the preparedness of the institution in the area of the Customs Union, as well as the dedication and clear vision for the future plans of the administration, with a particular emphasis on digitalization.
 

“The Customs Administration and the Ministry of Finance are focused on the preparation of the new Customs Law and accompanying by-laws, as a basis for operational application of the new IT systems and procedures in customs operations. During the EU accession process, in the coming period we will continue to monitor the harmonization of the EU customs legislation, as well as the harmonization resulting from the new EU Customs Union reform,” Kutirov said.
