Kriva Palanka-born emigrants living abroad deck out hometown
Skopje, 18 November 2022 (MIA) — Despite the energy crisis, Kriva Palanka will shine for the holidays thanks to donations from locals who emigrated to Germany, France and the USA, MIA’s Kriva Palanka correspondent reports. According to Kriva Palanka Mayor Sashko Mitovski, this year the town has not tapped into the municipal budget for its New Year’s Eve decorations. Instead, they were bought with money from Kriva Palanka-born emigrants. “The holiday atmosphere brings New Year's joy with it, and the joy and happiness of our citizens, especially the children, have motivated us to make the city shine in all its New Year's splendor this year as well,” Mayor Mitovski said. “Amid the energy crisis,” he added, “we have made this possible thanks to our expats who are always there for us. Their successful companies have brought joy to Palanka people.” Mitovski thanked MAK-Bau Germany, GDR France, USA’s Select IAM, and Phénix Fenêtres France for their donations. “Thanks to everyone who has made it possible for the city to be festive, joyful and full of visitors for the holidays,” he said, adding that the town square would again hold a New Year's fair and offer music entertainment. mr/
