Kovachevski-Mitsotakis: Joint strategic projects of enormous importance for long-term energy independence
Skopje, 6 October 2022 (MIA) – Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski met with Greek counterpart Kyriakos Mitsotakis at the sidelines of the European Political Community meeting in Prague, reaffirming the importance of cooperation in the energy sector and joint projects over the construction of the LNG terminal in Alexandroupolis and gas networking between the two countries. The Kovachevski-Mitsotakis meeting follows their recent encounter in Athens, where an agreement was reached over unhindered supply of lignite and coal from Greece. Joint energy projects are significant for North Macedonia regarding new gas sources but also the opportunity for the country to become a regional point for further transit and distribution of gas to countries in the area, the Government said in a press release.
