Kovachevski-Dendias: N. Macedonia and Greece focused on strengthening strategic partnership
Skopje, 25 May 2022 (MIA) – Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski held Wednesday a meeting with Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias, who is paying a day-long visit to North Macedonia. During the meeting, Greece’s efforts for full engagement and active support of North Macedonia in its EU integration process were highlighted with pledges that Athens will resume its engagement involving the adoption of the negotiating framework and the formal opening of accession negotiations with the EU, the government said in a press release. It was stressed that North Macedonia’s government remains focused on strengthening the strategic partnership between the two countries with full commitment to meeting the obligations stemming from the Prespa Agreement and preparedness to fully implement the action plan on intensifying cooperation between Greece and North Macedonia,. “In this regard, information was shared on the course of organization of the second meeting of the high-level government cooperation council and on preparations ahead of the first meeting of the committee on business dialogue, set to take place this year,” said the press release. With representatives of the countries’ chambers of commerce and company managers in attendance, the meeting is expected to contribute to further strengthening of the business relations between North Macedonia and Greece, ranked fourth as trade partner. “Greek Foreign Minister Denidas pointed out North Macedonia’s contribution to building and strengthening regional cooperation, stability and good neighborly relations as a vital aspect for the region and beyond,” said the press release.
