Kovachevski to meet with head of Macedonian Radio Television

Skopje, 28 March 2023 (MIA) – Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski said Tuesday that he is planning to hold a meeting with the head of the Macedonian Radio Television (MRT) in order to assess the signed agreement, the availability of the broadcast abroad and the services provided to the Macedonian Television allowing it to broadcast its program abroad.

“An agreement was signed enabling the broadcasting of the Bulgarian Television in our country and our national television in Bulgaria, which was also implemented back then, however, in the meantime, the agreement over the services allowing the Macedonian Television to broadcast abroad has been rescinded. They have come to a certain agreement that has to be explained technically, the provider of the services does not allow a free retraction of the broadcast by operators from other countries. This is a long-standing issue. I spoke to some of the institutions in charge of the media sector and I plan to hold a meeting with the head of MRT on this issue, in order to assess the signed agreement, the availability of the broadcast abroad and the services provided to our national television allowing it to broadcast its program abroad. So that we assess whether the broadcast of the Macedonian Television is available in other countries as well,” said Kovachevski in answer to a journalist’s question. ad/nn/
