Kovachevski: Strengthening our positions, ensuring safety, security and peace together with NATO allies
Skopje, 2 July 2022 (MIA) – Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski, Defense Minister Slavjanka Petrovska and United States Ambassador Kate Marie Byrnes paid a visit Saturday to army ship Harry S. Truman, one of the largest U.S. aircraft carriers. PM Kovachevski said he was especially proud of the visit, which demonstrates the support for the operations of the U.S. naval forces in Europe. “Our visit to the aircraft carrier Harry S. Truman, part of the NATO fleet in the Mediterranean, demonstrates our capacity and the capacity of our strategic partners, defense capabilities that are part of the Alliance system of collective defense and maintenance of security. Our country, alongside its partners of the largest security and defense alliance in the world, is taking part and will continue to actively participate in global processes towards ensuring peace, freedom and sovereignty. Together with our NATO allies we are strengthening our positions to manage all conventional and unconventional threats and challenges for safety, security and peace,” said Kovachevski. The PM noted that the security of a country, its stability, regional peace and stability, are the basic prerequisites for economic development, prosperity and quality of life. “Our unity has been demonstrated through the support, both in humanitarian aid and medical materials, to the citizens of Ukraine, who have been facing a military aggression by Russia in recent months. The war in Ukraine has shown that our decision to join NATO was a successful strategic objective and I assure you that we are committed to increasing security and strengthening democracy, thus meeting our strategic goal of European integration. We are investing in the long-term development of our country, securing the future of our children, as equals in the most powerful military alliance in the world, build and based on the highest civilizational democratic values,” underlined Kovachevski.
