Kovachevski: Negotiations with European Union are open
Skopje, 15 September 2022 (MIA) – Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski pointed out that after 17 years, the EU started the screening process for North Macedonia’s membership to the European Union in Brussels on Thursday.  
“Negotiations with the European Union are open! After 17 years of waiting, the screening process for North Macedonia’s membership in the European Union opened today in Brussels. We are starting a process of deepening essential reforms for the implementation of European regulations, for the Europeanization of society and for the European functioning of the state. Today is truly a big and important day for the future of all citizens in our country, they deserve to live in a stable, democratic and European society. I wish successful work ahead, the Macedonian team is ready for the challenge,” PM Kovachevski stressed on the official start of the screening process.  
 
On Thursday, the meeting in Brussels will focus on Chapter 5 – Public Procurement, while on Friday, the team will head to Luxembourg for a meeting on Chapter 18 – Statistics, both part of the first cluster known as Fundamentals. The team is headed by chief negotiator and Deputy PM for European Affairs Bojan Marichikj.
