Kovachevski - Grlić Radman: Long-overdue step forward in North Macedonia’s EU integration is well-deserved and necessary
Skopje, 15 June 2022 (MIA) – Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski met Wednesday with Croatian Foreign Minister Gordan Grlić Radman, whereat a clear position was conveyed that Croatia continues to actively support North Macedonia’s European perspective. Participants in the meeting noted that opening of North Macedonia’s EU accession negotiations is important for the stability of the region, and thus the Union itself. Talks stressed that the country practices European values in terms of political and reform plan, and the long-overdue step forward in European integration is well-deserved and necessary, the Government said in a press release. PM Kovachevski thanked for Croatia’s substantial and friendly support to all important democratic processes in the country. He added that North Macedonia continues to practice European values and stressed that such political orientation is important for the country, and for the region and the EU. “We are fully aligned with the EU’s foreign policy regarding the war in Ukraine. We are principled in the development of good neighborly relations. We are committed to protecting the living standard of the citizens. These are the positions from which the government continues to work,” said Kovachevski. Interlocutors agreed that the 30th anniversary since the establishment of diplomatic relations between North Macedonia and Croatia is marked by fruitful cooperation in all areas of mutual interest, adding that cooperation is promoted both bilaterally and as NATO member countries. Participants in the meeting also discussed about holding a joint session of the governments of North Macedonia and Croatia, reads the press release.
