Kovachevski: Great deal of work ahead in promoting rule of law, transparency of judicial authorities

Skopje, 11 May 2023 (MIA) - The meetings I held in Washington and New York focused among other on the promotion of the rule of law and the fight against corruption. All institutions have a great deal of work ahead of in terms of promoting the rule of law, as well as in the area of ​​increasing the transparency of the work of judicial authorities, Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski said Thursday, in response to a reporter's question on his meetings in the United States.

 

As regards digitalization of judiciary, Kovachevski noted that the largest courtroom in the country is fully digitalized, adding that the system for interoperability between the courts and seven institutions with which the most data is exchanged will also be digitalized.

 

"I've never appreciated generalizing things. In every system there are individuals who perform well, individuals who perform poorly, and individuals who need to be promoted," Kovachevski said at Thursday's event on launching construction works on Canadian company Magna Mechatronics' investment project in TIDZ Shtip. 

 

Kovachevski noted that during the meetings in the United States he extended gratitude for the equipment and support received from the U.S. in terms of the digitalization of the judiciary.

 

In addition, he stressed that the meetings in Washington and New York voiced strong and unequivocal support for North Macedonia in terms of joining the EU.

 

"We consider this extremely important, because the United States is the most important and largest strategic partner of the country," said Kovachevski.
