Kovachevski: Government reshuffle session could have been shorter if not for opposition's useless speeches

Skopje, 28 February 2023 (MIA) - The Government reshuffling will contribute to the Parliament's efficiency and the session could have been shorter if not for the speeches by the opposition that focused on everything but the reshuffling itself, said Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski on Tuesday.

"The reshuffling option is at the disposal of every PM and Government, and I did this in line with the laws and the Constitution. The opposition's useless speeches, although a democratic right, focused on everything but the reshuffling itself. I believe the discussion could have been shorter and more consistent," said PM Kovachevski when asked about the 11-day debate that cost the citizens about EUR 600,000 while resulting in an enlarged parliamentary majority by a single seat.

He repeated what he had said in the elaboration of the reshuffle motion - that the Government is open for all political parties, individuals, institutions and organizations that want to contribute to North Macedonia's sooner EU accession.

"I believe the Alliance for Albanians has made a good and positive step by joining the Government. The majority stands at 65 MPs, it is larger than it was before, and it will ensure faster and more efficient work by the Parliament through the adoption of laws that are significant on the country's European path but also reforms in all sectors," noted Kovachevski.
