Skopje, 20 July 2023 (MIA) - Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski met Thursday with Executive Secretary General of the Party of European Socialists (PES), Giacomo Filibeck, discussing the current situation and challenges in the country, as well as upcoming processes. 

Filibeck welcomed the Government's concrete steps towards achieving the European integration goals, the Government said in a press release. 

In addition, reads the press release, Filibeck conveyed full support to the Government and its efforts towards taking the opportunity at hand in achieving the strategic goal - full-fledged EU membership. 

 
"Interlocutors agreed that the country's screening process is progressing at the expected pace. The two concluded that the implementation of reform processes and the existence of awareness by all political actors for the smooth adoption of constitutional amendments is necessary as a guarantee to ensure smooth entry into the EU, as this is the expectation of the citizens. Kovachevski and Filibeck jointly concluded that the future of North Macedonia is in the European Union and therefore the current historical opportunity that will ensure a better quality of life for all citizens must not be missed," reads the press release.
