Kovachevski and Osmani meet Michel: North Macedonia in higher stage of EU relations
Skopje, 21 September 2022 (MIA) – Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski and Foreign Minister Bujar Osmani briefly met Wednesday with European Council President Charles Michel at the sidelines of the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly, reaffirming the pleasure over the fact that North Macedonia is in a higher stage of its relations with the European Union after the start of the accession negotiations.
FM Osmani wrote in a Facebook post that Council President Michel highlighted the Union’s unequivocal support to the membership prospects of the Western Balkans, and an assurance for a credible and fair accession process.
“Discussions also focused on the initial meetings within the screening process, which is set to last until November 2023. We reaffirmed the country’s readiness for a successful negotiating process, especially since over 45 percent of the EU Acquis has been transposed into North Macedonia’s legislation,” wrote Osmani.
