Kostadinovski attends meeting in Tirana on CECC agenda

Skopje, 28 February 2025 (MIA) - President of the Constitutional Court of North Macedonia, Darko Kostadinovski, attended a Preparatory Meeting of the Circle of Presidents of the Conference of European Constitutional Courts (CECC), which kicked off in Tirana on Friday.

Several items are on the agenda of the meeting, including the theme of the 20th Congress of the CECC, preparatory aspects for the Congress, and proposals from member states, the Constitutional Court said in a press release.

In the first part of the Preparatory Meeting, the Constitutional Court of Kosovo was admitted as a member of the CECC with 25 votes in favor, 4 votes against and 2 abstentions.

Kostadinovski met with his counterpart Nexhmi Rexhepi, congratulating him on the membership. The two exchanged views and information on further bilateral cooperation between the two courts, as well as cooperation within the Balkan Constitutional Courts Forum and the CECC.

The meeting set the theme for the 20th Congress, which will be held in May 2027 in Albania, where the European courts will discuss "defending democracy, freedom of expression, social media and fake news", reads the press release.

On the sidelines of the meeting, Kostadinovski will also hold bilateral meetings with counterparts from several countries.

The event was attended by presidents and representatives from 34 member constitutional courts of CECC.
