Kalevska Vancheva: Leaders’ meeting aims to speed up pace to EU membership
Skopje, 2 November 2022 (MIA) – SDSM MP Snezhana Kalevska Vancheva said Wednesday that leaders’ meeting convened by the PM Dimitar Kovachevski is in the direction of our path toward full EU membership. “We constantly talk with our colleagues from all political parties represented in the Parliament, and this is normal and is part of our role as representatives of citizens. In regard to the leaders’ meeting convened by PM Dimitar Kovachevski, it is in direction of our path toward full EU membership. We all know how many challenges our country is facing with what we have to do, what are the key steps, and they should be done by a broad consensus in Parliament,” Kalevska Vancheva said. According to Kalevska Vancheva, it is expected to initiate such a meeting in such moments, which is actually not the first and should be a normal process, because we really have a common interest, and that is to speed up pace to full EU membership, and to hopefully start the screening, the bilateral meetings by this time next year. Regarding the demands of most political parties from the Albanian bloc on changes to Constitution’s amendments including the phrase "the language spoken by 20 percent of the citizens" to be changed into "Albanian language", she said that they do not avoid discussing any issue, but still, she added it is necessary to take care of what is mainly of interest. She also underlined that that's why I said that the issues related to changing the Constitution are very serious, no matter in which domain and in which part they refer and should be addressed very carefully.
