Skopje, 29 May 2024 (MIA) - The President of the Constitutional Court, Dobrila Kacarska, stated Wednesday evening that she will not nominate any candidate for the position of President of the Constitutional Court, to prevent any perception of conveying someone else's message.

"To prevent anyone from thinking that I am conveying someone else's message, that someone has told me whom to nominate, or something similar. You know, something is always misinterpreted in public," Kacarska told Telma TV's Top Tema.

Kacarska said it is a secret voting, and she cannot disclose for whom she will vote. Kacarska stated that so far no one has approached her to lobby for anyone.

"Perhaps you won't believe me, but I sincerely say this: no one has approached me to tell me whom to vote for. Everyone knows me well enough and knows that no influence passes through me. Whether one or a hundred people approach me, whether they are politicians, businessmen, ordinary citizens, they know that I will vote according to my own beliefs. That's why no one approaches me. Whether there is lobbying with other colleagues, I don't know," Kacarska said.

When speaking about the inauguration of President Gordana Siljanovska Davkova, Kacarska stated that even though nobody in Macedonia likes the name, it is nonetheless mentioned in the Constitution and must be respected.

The President of the Constitutional Court, speaking about the instances in which she was attacked, said that she did not report previous attacks, including the physical attack she experienced in Greece.

“During the period when I was presiding over the case involving former Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski, after announcing the verdict, I went on a week-long holiday to Greece with a friend of mine. I was physically attacked on the beach; I was hit on my leg. I drove back to Skopje. I did not report that incident. I considered it an isolated case, and that is precisely why the next day, together with my friend, we returned to Skopje," Kacarska said.

The security, as she stated, was provided based on a prior security assessment, and she personally did not request such. Kacarska said she does not feel safe, but as she has no awareness of who is behind these attacks, whatever she says will be within the realm of speculation.
