Justice Ministry says working group on Judicial Council reform to be set up next week, representatives of major political parties invited to join
- The Ministry of Justice said Wednesday that a working group on reform of the Judicial Council is to be formed next week.
Skopje, 1 November 2023 (MIA) – The Ministry of Justice said Wednesday that a working group on reform of the Judicial Council is to be formed next week.
The working group will be made up of representatives of the Judges Association, the NGO representatives, members of the academic community as well as experts in their respective fields, the Justice Ministry said in a press release.
“Representatives of the major political parties in the country will be invited to participate in the working group aimed at ensuring comprehensive process,” reads the press release.
The working group will start working immediately after its formation in order to be expedient and prompt, and recommendations of the EU’s peer review mission on the Judicial Council’s work will also be submitted to the working group.
“The statements from these reports will be addressed by the working group in the specific legal provisions in order to overcome the identified weaknesses in relation to the legal solutions and their applying in practice. The Ministry of Justice would like to highlight the importance of the reform of the Judicial Council as a body that will contribute to restoring the public trust in the judicial system,” reads the press release.
