Justice Ministry revokes list of proposals for pardons for New Year’s holidays
Skopje, 21 December 2021 (MIA) - The Ministry of Justice said on Tuesday that it will not forward a proposal for pardoning convicts for the New Year's holiday and that the proposed list is completely revoked.
The decision was made after consultation with the Administration for Execution of Sanctions, according to the Ministry of Justice’s press release.
“This is being done aimed at giving time first to clarify the criteria on list containing the proposals of persons who should be pardoned,” Justice Ministry said.
It added that a working group in the Justice Ministry is working on drafting a new draft law on pardons, which, "will strengthen the criteria and define new stricter conditions for those who can be pardoned."
“We believe that this will minimize the chances of the lists in the future to include people that will raise public doubts about the normal functioning of the legal system,” the press release said.
