Skopje, 2 February 2024 (MIA) - Justice Minister Krenar Lloga welcomes the Government decision to withdraw the Law on Restrictive Measures, considering that the Justice Ministry had previously given a negative opinion and pointed to the series of legal shortcoming in the draft, the Ministry told MIA on Friday.
The Justice Ministry notes that the law amendments related to the enforcement of restrictive measures based on legal acts of the United States and the United Kingdom were contrary to North Macedonia's constitutional order and sovereignty.
The Ministry says that enforcement of restrictive measures by a Government decision based on suspicions is not in line with the Constitution and the penal law system in general.
Late on Thursday, the Government said it withdrew from parliamentary procedure the draft law on restrictive measures due to administrative reasons, noting that it would be on the agenda at its next session.
