Journalists from N. Macedonia and Bulgaria meet in Bulgarian town after two-year hiatus
Sofia, 16 July 2022 (MIA) - Journalists from Bulgaria and North Macedonia will be meeting in the Bulgarian town of Veliko Tarnovo from Saturday through Tuesday as part of the "Time for Conversations" initiative, MIA's Sofia correspondent reported. The meeting is a resumption of "Weekend for Dialogue - Journalists against Prejudice", an event held in September 2019. Back then, journalists from North Macedonia had invited their colleagues from Bulgaria to meet in Ohrid in a peaceful and open atmosphere without mediators or lecturers to discuss the joint issues reporters in the two countries have been facing and to build mutual trust. The event was cancelled in 2020 and 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic. This year, a total of 20 journalists from different media outlets from the two countries will meet. Participants in the meeting believe it is "time for a new conversation to talk about what might help is to get to know each other and become close rather than what drives us apart." "Time for Conversations" is organized by BTA news agency in cooperation with MEP Ilhan Kyuchuk, who us also the EP's rapporteur for North Macedonia.
