Janevski: Increasing foreign currency inflow, more tourists expected in 2022
Skopje, 26 August 2022 (MIA) – The head of the Agency for Promotion and Support of Tourism, Ljupcho Janevski, expects 2022 to register an increase in the number of tourists and overnight stays, as well as an increase in foreign currency inflow. According to him, the positive results are already visible. “The statistical data shows that the number of tourists in the January – June 2022 period has increased by 75 percent compared to the same period last year. There is an increase of 25.4 percent among domestic tourists, and 131.3 percent among foreign tourists. Overnight stays have increased by 66.3 percent as well, more specifically 29 percent among domestic tourists and 109.2 percent among foreign,” said Janevski at a press conference while presenting the Agency’s Strategic Plan and activities for 2023. He pointed out that the total inflow of foreign currency in 2020 amounted to 252.05 million USD and when compared to 2021, which registered 385.04 million USD, there is an increase of 52.76 percent. “The Agency for Promotion and Support of Tourism expects that 2022 will register an increase in the number of tourists and overnight stays, as well as an increase in the inflow of foreign currencies from tourism,” said Janevski. ad/ba/
