Janevska says Macedonia finally promoting science

Skopje, 6 November 2025 (MIA) — Minister of Education and Science Vesna Janevska attended Thursday a conference organized by the national Agency for Innovation Activity, Scientific and Technological Development and Entrepreneurship INOVA.

Titled "Science as a Roadmap in Times of Change," the conference was aimed at inspiring young people to turn to science when dealing with contemporary societal challenges.

Speaking ahead of the conference, Minister Janevska told the press she was glad that “a greater promotion of science in Macedonia has finally started.”

"This was much needed because innovations and scientific achievements are highly valued all over the world," she said.

"I am very glad to see so many young people interested in working in the field of science here. As a government, we have done a lot to promote science," Janevska said, adding that the government had doubled the budget for science projects and formed the INOVA agency.

She said INOVA was formed to encourage young people to contribute to the development of the economy through their innovations.

INOVA director Daniela Dimovska, too, said the government agency was formed to support young entrepreneurs.

"If we want to keep young people here, we need to provide them with real opportunities so they can create," Dimovska said.

"The trend of seeking state administration employment is subsiding already. Young people now want opportunities to create on their own. This is where the idea of establishing this institution came from," she said. mr/
