Janevska and Szijjártó sign memorandum for 20 annual scholarships for Macedonian students in Hungary 

Skopje, 13 June 2025 (MIA) - The Ministry of Education and Science said Friday that 20 scholarships will be available annually for Macedonian students to study in Hungary, in either Hungarian or a foreign language. Priority will be given to candidates applying in the fields of STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics), medical and health sciences, and agriculture.

The Memorandum of Understanding regulating cooperation within the Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship Programme for the period 2026–2028 was signed today by the Minister of Education and Science, Vesna Janevska, and the Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Péter Szijjártó.

The memorandum stipulates that students shall be granted paid tuition, accommodation in student dormitories on the institution’s campus or financial support for housing expenses, entitlement to health services, access to free library facilities and a monthly stipend to cover essential living costs.

“Janevska and Szijjártó agreed that the signing of the Memorandum confirms and strengthens the friendly relations between the two countries and advances cooperation in the field of higher education, in the interest of developing a knowledge-based society,” reads the press release.

The scholarships will be granted for full-time undergraduate, postgraduate, integrated master’s, and doctoral programs. Additionally, they will cover short-term study periods ranging from three to ten months for the purpose of earning academic credits.
