Italy’s Carabinieri donate uniforms and equipment for Forest Police worth EUR 4,2 million
Skopje, 26 September 2022 (MIA) - Italy’s Carabinieri have donated 20 containers carrying 54 tonnes of uniforms and equipment worth EUR 4,2 million to the Forest Police. Italian Ambassador Andrea Silvestri handed over most of the equipment to Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Economy Ljupcho Nikolovski on Monday, saying it represents another proof of the excellent bilateral relations. Minister Nikolovski thanked Ambassador Silvestri and said the equipment will be distributed to the Forest Police and the Army. “The first 14 of 20 trucks carrying over 6,000 pieces of summer and over 11,000 pieces of winter uniforms, over 1,600 raincoats, 8,500 summer shirts, 5,600 winter shirts, as well as sweaters, vests, caps, t-shirts, boots, shoes and other equipment are here. The donation is comprised of over 46,000 pieces worth over EUR 4,2 million,” said Nikolovski. According to him, the uniforms will also be used by members of other institutions who take part in the protection of forests. The equipment is complementary to the two sets of summer and winter uniforms, worth Mden 12 million (EUR 200,000) that the Government allocated from the Budget in the course of 2021. Ambassador Silvestri said the procedure that was launched last year is being completed by the Carabinieri, which have taken over the subject-matter jurisdiction from the Italian Forest Police. “This support is part of our excellent cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture. We have already launched a programme of sharing Italy’s experiences in the field of agriculture, food industry and environment. Seminars on bio-production, agriculture during the pandemic and food geographic labels are ongoing,” said Silvestri.
