Skopje, 19 July 2023 (MIA) – DUI official Ismet Guri has been brought to the Skopje-based Criminal Court, the Court told MIA. 

The former deputy director at the directorate of the Public Revenue Office (PRO) in Skopje is among the suspects in an investigation that is being conducted against 15 people suspected of tax evasion, criminal association and money laundering, which was announced this morning by the Public Prosecutor's Office.

According to the Prosecutor's Office, the suspects have misled the tax authority - PRO with the intention of obtaining an illegal property benefit for themselves, making an unfounded requested and receiving a VAT refund of around EUR 840,000. 

The Prosecutor's Office will propose to a pre-trial judge to order detention for three of the suspects, as well as other necessary measures for the rest of the suspects, due to possibility of fleeing the country, hiding, falsifying or destroying evidence material, or hindering investigation by influencing any witnesses and accomplices.
